Treating Your Allergies With Ayurveda

dayspa_ayurvedaAllergies are something that every single person in the world has to deal with and while most people squash their allergies with medication provided by their doctor, if you are the type of person that is looking for something different and alternative, you should take a look at Ayurveda to treat some of your allergies.  For those of you that are not familiar with Ayurveda, it is basically the relationship between living things and non-living things.  One theory that has become very popular is that the Earth’s elements actually are linked to how a person feels.

Ayurveda is actually part of an Indian philosophy and the Indians believe that it is actually one of the oldest types of healing.  Most allergies that are seasonal are basically due to the fact that the earth is changing and that is what your body does for that specific season.  Ayurveda works like this:  if the earth is retaining too much water, you are too and that is what will cause your chest congestion.  While it may seem a little weird – doesn’t it make some sense too?

The reason that Ayurveda is so important is that you can now understand your allergies and why they happen – the earth’s plants will release pollen each year and every year your eyes might water and your might want to sneeze – just use many different herbs that help allergies and you should be fine in no time at all!

Naturally Boosting Calcium: 2

frozen-yogurtMilk is by no means the only way to get calcium — essentially the same kind provided by a glass of milk, in fact.

Although you should by no means overdo it, you can get a lot of calcium through some sweet and flavorful treats. For example, frozen yogurt is an excellent source of calcium — and it is also healthier than, say, ice cream. Of course, before buying any type of frozen yogurt, you should check out its calcium content. Remember, regular yogurt provides even more calcium. Evaporated milk in recipes for pudding, fudge, and even cake is a great alternative as well, as a single cup provides six hundred and sixty milligrams worth of calcium!

Cheese is an excellent source as well, and incorporating healthy amounts of various kinds of cheese into your diet can also provide a real treat. Remember, plenty of delicious dishes can be made even better with the addition of cheese; pasta and casseroles are just two of them.

However, many of us do not know how precisely we can boost our calcium levels, when in truth there are a number of ways to boost it naturally, which Your Body, Your Temple will reveal in the following series of posts.

First of all, you can get more calcium just by eating the right foods — the majority of them absolutely delicious! For instance, anything dairy is good for you — provided you eat healthy amounts, of course.

Primarily, a lot of people neglect drinking as much milk as they should. At least trying to drink a glass of milk a day, even if it is chocolate milk, can substantially help you.

Remember elementary school, students were given milk at breakfast, at lunch, and for a snack. Sure, kids need it to grow — but we adults also need milk, to keep our bones strong.

Avoid Eating Too Much Sugar!

1071033_sugars_3To be honest, too many people nowadays eat too much sugar.  That is one of the main reasons why weight is such a problem and why your skin may not look its best right now.  Ingesting excess sugar is honestly one of the main causes of premature aging as well, but that does not mean that you can not have any sugar at all – just have it in moderation.  There are many different things that you can do that are easy and that can lower your sugar intake.

For example, cut down on the sugar that you put in your coffee and tea by half.  That way, you can make sure that your sugar intake is slowly but surely going down.  Once you get used to drinking your coffee or tea like that, make sure that you cut it down again until you no longer need it.  This alone will really help you in the long run.

Candy and sweets are things that you should cut down on too – make sure that you only have them once in a while and you will totally see a difference!

Natural Remedies For Asthma: How You Can Cure It! Part 4

Many people find them preferable because there are so many side effects associated with a number of different inhalers and other types of asthma medication. Asthma suffers do not want to rely on their inhalers all of the time.

Natural Remedies For Asthma: How You Can Cure It! Part 3

asthma1There is evidence suggesting that what is known as the Buteyko Breathing Technique will work as a natural remedy for asthma. Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko, a Russian researcher, developed this technique. It is characterized mainly by shallow breathing methods of exercise. The main aim behind these breathing exercises is to help asthma sufferers breathe more easily.

The technique itself works on the premise that you can raise the level of carbon dioxide in your blood by breathing shallowly. This is helpful with asthma because carbon dioxide may be able to actually dilate the airways — specifically, the smooth muscles within them.

Studies have been done to test this theory and to see if the technique actually works. Sixty people were involved. A third of them used the Buteyko technique; a third of them used pranayama, which is a technique used in yoga; and a third used a placebo. The results suggested that those using the Buteyko method reduced their asthma symptoms. As well, the people in that group did not have to use their inhalers as much.

So, thus far, there is clear evidence that this may be an effective way to naturally relieve asthma symptoms.
