My Perfect Healthy Breakfast

breakfast healthy yes or noBreakfast today is very different than it was back in the days of the four food groups. With the invention of low-carbohydrate diets and the food pyramid, what we eat has changed. We are no longer eating as many fried foods, fat or pork as we once did. Overall, the amount of food we eat for breakfast is decreasing, but we are focusing more on nutrition. I like to focus on a meal that is high in protein, rich in complex carbohydrates and low in fat and cholesterol. Whenever possible, I buy natural and organic foods that are rich in nutrients and delicious. Below are my choices for my perfect healthy breakfast that will leave you feeling full and contribute to better health.

A breakfast that I eat often consists of two eggs with light cheese, two slices of wheat toast and an apple. I buy organic whenever I can because the food will be free of pesticides, free of hormones and will not be genetically modified. The eggs I buy are from free-range hens that are fed an organic diet of vegetarian food. I also buy organic apples of different varieties, depending on what is fresh and available. My favorite apple varieties are Granny Smith or Pink Lady. I love these varieties for their textures, flavors and colors. The toast and apple provide complex carbohydrates for energy to get you going in the morning, and the eggs and cheese provide protein to build muscle and leave you feeling fuller for a longer period of time. Sometimes I skip the toast and add even more protein by adding two strips of either soy or turkey bacon. Both of these options are rich in protein, have great smokey flavor, a crunchy texture and are low in fat. Breakfasts that are low in fat but high in protein and unrefined carbohydrates will leave you feeling energized and ready to take on your busy day.

Water TherapyWater is something that is a basic need for life.  While most people do not get their recommended dose of water, did you know that it can actually harm you if you don’t have it?  Water is something that actually helps to cleanse your body and it will improve your body’s metabolism overall.  It is actually believed that water is the only natural resource that can actually speed up weight loss.

If you are considering using some water to lose some weight, you have to make sure that you do your research beforehand.  That way, you can be sure how much water you need to drink and how much water is truly going to make a difference.  Water is something that can truly help you – for the rest of your life.

The Truth about Acai Berries

acai-berryIf you ever get spam mail, find yourself bothered by pop ups, or watch late night infomercials — and even some more legitimate talk shows — then you have heard of acai berries. They have been touted as modern day miracles, able to give you tons of energy and make you lose a lot of weight fast — but “naturally,” of course, which seems like a bit of a dichotomy.

So what are these so called miracle berries? Well, by all in depth accounts, they are not going to help you lose weight fast and in a healthy matter. Any fast weight loss is frankly not healthy, by virtue of the fact that losing weight too fast simply is not healthy for your body. Are they aphrodisiacs? Well, they may make some folks randy, but they are certainly not a miraculous cure for everyone’s waning libido. Will they cure cancer, diabetes, and other serious illnesses? Not so much, no, at least not in the manner they are currently being used.

So beware and do some hardcore research before subscribing to this particular “miracle.”

Discussing the Many Benefits of Coconut Oil

coconut_oilOnce upon a time, a lot of people used coconut oil as a cooking oil. Sadly, certain events in history caused the oil to stop getting exported to other countries. Manufacturers tried to hydrogenate the coconut oils we already had here, but unfortunately that caused them to lose many of their healthy benefits.

The good news is that new studies have been conducted and new processing techniques have been created which allows coconut oil to get a brand new life — which is great news for creating a healthy diet.

Coconut oil contains a very special kind of saturated fat — it has medium chain fatty acids. Lauric acid is one of them. The body uses these oils quickly, so they do not get stored in the body as fat.

Avoid Eating Too Much Sugar!

1071033_sugars_3To be honest, too many people nowadays eat too much sugar.  That is one of the main reasons why weight is such a problem and why your skin may not look its best right now.  Ingesting excess sugar is honestly one of the main causes of premature aging as well, but that does not mean that you can not have any sugar at all – just have it in moderation.  There are many different things that you can do that are easy and that can lower your sugar intake.

For example, cut down on the sugar that you put in your coffee and tea by half.  That way, you can make sure that your sugar intake is slowly but surely going down.  Once you get used to drinking your coffee or tea like that, make sure that you cut it down again until you no longer need it.  This alone will really help you in the long run.

Candy and sweets are things that you should cut down on too – make sure that you only have them once in a while and you will totally see a difference!

Getting rid of acne is definitely something that teenagers and adults alike are constantly trying to get rid of – without all of those harsh, harsh chemicals.  After all, who wants to put harsh chemicals on their flesh all of the time?  Personally, I don’t!  So that is why I thought we would do quite a few blogs on how you can get clear looking skin naturally!

First and foremost, you need to make sure that you are drinking enough water.  To be honest, most people do not drink nearly enough water and that is the main reason that they break out in the first place!  So make sure that you are getting your five, six, seven or even eight glasses of water in everyday!
